![]() We can guess at this point, from the visions that Evie's been having that Lady Agnes, in her own time, was having visions from the future, from Evie. This is an excerpt from Lady Agnes's journal in which she talks about having visions of a strangely dressed girl that disturbingly looks a lot like her. Now I am burning to know more and discover every secret. Our "game" has proved to be gloriously, unimaginably real. Despite that Evie feels drawn to the sea, instead of scared of it, because she wants to prove to herself that she can cheat death, as though she were-which is conveniently said like this to justify the title and foreshadow the upcoming events-immortal. Evie, EightĮvie lost her mother very young, her mother died in water.
